Albin Joseph Grodecki passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2018.Albin leaves to mourn his children, Durwin (Monica) Grodecki and their children Hadlie and Crosby; Sheldon (Melissa) Grodecki and their chidren, Austin, Blaise and Ali; Vanessa (Jason) Ditter and their chidren, Dylan, Treyvan and Jadrrenne; sisters, Bernice Wasylishen, Fran Janzen, Mary Dempster and Gloria Ceslak (Marven); brothers, Johnny (Noemie), Benny and Larry; sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law George Sokal.He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary; son Jason; sisters, Nellie Keyowski (Joe), Francis (infant), Vicky, Margaret Sokal (Alec), Julie Chabluk (Jerry), Anne Sokal, Jennie Barrnett (Jim), Sophie Sebastian, Lucy (infant), and Rose Paul (Bill); brothers, Stanley and Peter (Cazmer); brothers-in-law, Frank Wasylishen, Ed Janzen and John Dempster.Albin was born in Bankend, Sask., on the homestead, on January 1, 1932. He enjoyed being outdoors in his garden or making sure his grass was always trimmed and well kept! He was also known for his famous homemade soups and he loved canning.He had many different jobs throughout his life. In 1951-52 he mined gold in B.C. From 54-57 he worked in a service station in Winnipeg; 57-63 he farmed around Bankend; 67-73 he worked in the Bankend Co-op as a mechanic and during the winters of 69 and 70 he worked in a nickel mine.In August 1971, he married Barbara Bulkeley and there were four children born to this union.In 1973, he opened his own garage in Bankend called Al’s Southside Service. After the business closed, he moved to Bredenbury for a while and worked as a mechanic. When he returned, he moved back to Bankend and lived there up until March 2016 when his kids begged him to move closer to Kelvington so he could be closer to them. He will be forever missed.
