Sandy (Alexandria) Rowlett (nee Okun) of Nora, SK passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at RUH in Saskatoon, SK. Sandy was born on August 21, 1942 in Ethlebert, MB and met the love of her life, Everett Rowlett in Winnipeg, MB. She moved to Nora and they got married on February 18, 1961.
Sandy loved working in her garden and with her flowers and loved being outside with nature. Besides raising a family of five children, she was involved in community organizations like school associations, Brownie/Girl Guide leader, curling club and the Nora Sunshine Circle. Sandy helped Everett with his electrical business the whole time he had it, as well as other little ventures such as owning the Lanigan Macleod Store, the Kelvington Electrical Supply Store, having a hobby farm of animals, raising rabbits for a couple of years, owning and operating the Wadena Bowling Alley for a few years and working as a Canada Post rural delivery person for nine years. Sandy was always on the go, but even more she loved visiting with friends and relatives and playing cards or simply enjoying each other’s company! Sandy was always so full of energy and could out last a lot of us doing yard and garden work. She always helped others out from driving them to medical appointments to helping others with their gardens to helping with baking sales and quilt raffles.
Sandy loved to travel and discover new places, travelling with Everett, relatives and friends to various places. She loved every trip and went to Hawaii, a Mexican Rivera Cruise, Vancouver, parts of BC, Yellowknife, Kingston, Ontario, Halifax and the Maritimes, and often to places in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. By herself, she went with a travel group to Ukraine and got to meet some second cousins and see where her parents came from. She also went to Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and parts of the United States with family or relatives. She had hoped to travel more but unfortunately cancer overtook her.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents, Anastasia and Nicholas Okun, her husband, Everett in 2019, her brothers Mike, Bill, Morris and Johnny, sister Nadia Hebert and brothers-in-law Peter Zuk and George Warner and sisters-in-law Beatrice Warner, Anne Rowlett and Alvine Rowlett.
Sandy leaves behind to mourn her children Johanne (Gord) Schlosser, Alesia and Brett; Wanda (Rick) Rance, Richie, Kristina and Nicholas; Bruce Rowlett, Courtney and Nathan; Trent Rowlett, Eve and Laine; Christine (Paul) Chura, Bradley and Kristin as well as her sisters Anne Zuk and Iris (Jim) Bailey; sisters-in-law Mary Okun, Adel Okun, Pauline Okun and Jean Okun; brothers-in-law Claude Hebert, Lloyd Rowlett and Roy (Carol) Rowlett and many adored nieces and nephews. Sandy will be missed by so many people, but Heaven has gained an angel looking over us.
