Ann, the ninth of ten children, was born on a family homestead near Insinger, Saskatchewan to Fred and Mary Rusnak. After attending Aysgarth School, she assisted her older sister Stephanie, and then went to work on a dairy farm near Floral, Saskatchewan. During World War II she was involved in the war effort by helping in the manufacture of communication products at St. Catherine's Steel Products, St. Catherines, Ontario.
On August 28, 1943, she married John Minken at St.Paul's Church in St. Catherines. After living briefly in St. Catherines and in Theodore, Saskatchewan, they purchased and moved to a farm in the Willow Glen district southwest of Kelvington. A few years later they moved to Winnipeg. They returned to the farm in 1954 where they raised two sons, Douglas and John. She was predeceased by her husband John on August 22, 1999. Ann lived on the family farm until her passing.
Ann is survived by her sons, Douglas (Mary) and family: Michelle (Jamie Darkenwald and daughter Delilah), Barbara (Adam Calabrese), Jonathan (Dawn and son Jaxon), and David (Jennie and children, Mason, Finley and Isla); and John (Stella) and family: Steven (Michelle and children, Deanna and Nicholas), Jeremy (Sara and daughter Amy), Karen (Jason Kotyk and daughter Katelyn), and Joann (Jason Belanger).
Ann will always be remembered for her great humour, her warm and gracious hospitality, her generous spirit, and her ability to love people unconditionally. Baking, gardening, spending time with family and friends and caring for her animals gave her great pleasure.
She will be sadly missed.
