Aurora McGregor

Aurora McGregor, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Wynyard Golden Acres. She was a wonderful woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Aurora was born to Siggi and Margaret Johnson on July 22, 1924. She attended Springburn, a country school, and later attended school in Wynyard. On June 5, 1945 she married Don McGregor and they began farming and were blessed with two boys.
Along with farming and raising children, Aurora was active in the community. She belonged to the United Church Auxiliary, Golden Acres Auxiliary, Friendship Club and Evening Alliance Club. She was also employed at Dr. Polec’s office, the 5 to $1.00 Store and the Shanty Inn. Aurora was a very talented woman when it came to baking and anything to do with knitting and crocheting, as well as making her traditional Vinatarta and Icelandic dishes. There are many family members and friends who have been gifted her doilies, afghans, and a piece of Vinatarta every Christmas. She enjoyed watching the Blue Jays, Roughrider games and curling. Aurora loved to see places and meet new people and was able to go to Arizona for the winters and to the lake in the summer.
Aurora was predeceased by her parents, her husband Don in 1989, an infant grandson in 1980, her brother Oli (Alice) Johnson, step-brother Glen Murray, step-sister Marg Lang as well as cousins Muriel (Walter) Erickson, Oli (Irene) Erickson, Yolanda Gislason and Glen Johnson.
Aurora will be missed dearly and forever loved by her son Allan (Shirley) and grandson Scott (Nadine); son Glen (Gladys), granddaughter Tegan (Mike) Matichuk and great grandchildren Donovan and Allison, grandson Denton (Karla) and great grandchildren Liam and Owen and granddaughter Crystle (Dean) Tellman; cousins Margaret Johnson and Larry Gislason; step-sister-in-law Sheree Bluxrud as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We love and miss you Auroroa – Mom – Grandma – Great Grandma. May you rest in peace.
