Norman Campbell McLean of Foam Lake, SK passed away on August 6, 2019 at the age of 82, with family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1936 on the family farm to Norman McLean and Dorothy Butcher.
One of eight siblings, he attended both Echo Lake and Dunlop Schools. As a boy, he was a caregiver to his Mom and youngest brother while his Dad was away serving his country. A farmer from a young age, he used to milk ten cows before school.
Campbell loved music and dancing. While attending a Tuffnell dance he met the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” Semeniuk. On August 23, 1969 they were united in marriage. In 1970 they welcomed Darcy Campbell and, in 1974, Rodney Allan completed the family.
Campbell was a hard-working farmer at heart who loved to play ball, curl and spend time with his family. The years on the farm were spent “babysitting” his sons, helping Peggy (gardening, pinching perogies, and much more), working on the farm (up at 4:45 milking cows with Rodney in tow) and volunteering. Campbell truly was born to help others. He was community minded, giving of his time at the Tuffnell curling rink and sports grounds. Campbell’s family was so important to him. He loved spending time with Peggy; Darcy, Sheila, Davis and Brandt; Rodney, Shireen, Tyler (Delaney) and Carter. His grandsons were his pride and joy. When they were little he could be found sitting on the floor playing with them, dragging them around on blankets or running with them in the front yard. In 2012, Cam and Peggy moved the house to town where he enjoyed going for coffee at the Tavern with friends, time with his grandsons playing early morning cribbage games, watching them play sports and catching a Blue Jays game or watching a curling game on TV (as long as it was NOT Jennifer Jones).
Campbell is survived by his loving wife Peggy; son Darcy (Sheila), Davis and Brandt; son Rodney (Shireen), Tyler (Delaney) and Carter; sister Lucy Kolodzjieski as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Campbell was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Stella, Audrey, Gordon, Myrtle, Iris and Darryl.
As Campbell would say “That’s good enough.”
