Catherine Stephanie Mikkonen was born in Yorkton on April 8 th , 1961, to Steve and Rose Krupa.
Cathy lived in Parkerview in her early years and moved with her family to Sheho where she grew up. She
was the third of seven children. She attended elementary school in Sheho and completed her education
to grade 11 in Foam Lake.
In 1977 she met the love of her life, Rick Mikkonen, in Invermay. Cathy and Rick were married in Sheho
on July 7th , 1979.
Cathy and Rick lived in Yorkton for a brief time, where Cathy worked as a waitress at PJ’s Diner. In early
1980, they moved back to the family homestead near Invermay to start their own family. In November
of 1980 they brought into the world their first child, Erica. Over the next few years, Cathy would take
Erica and join Rick on the road, cooking meals for the construction crews. Once Erica started school,
Cathy worked at the grocery store in Invermay. Then in March of 1992 they welcomed to the world their
son, Kevin, and two years later they welcomed their youngest daughter, Jessica. From then on she
worked as a homemaker, raising the children, and for a brief period also worked in homecare.
Cathy loved to cook big meals for her family. She spent many happy hours in her flowerbeds and garden.
She enjoyed reading books and loved her pets, but her truest joy came from her grandchildren,
Meeghan, Leah, Kaden, and Evelyn.
Cathy is predeceased by her parents, Steve and Rose Krupa; parents-in-law Fred and Gladys Mikkonen;
