Dalton Alvin Basky was born on October 27, 1944, in Kipling, Sask. He was the fourth of six children born to Elek and Grace Basky. Dalton met and married his wife Donna in Saskatoon. They moved to Grande Prairie, Alta., where their first daughter, Katelyn Miquel was born. Dalton worked with the local Co-op and when given the opportunity, accepted a transfer to Vancouver Island three years later. It was in Nanaimo that their second daughter, Kierstyn Alynne was born. As a family, the Baskys enjoyed weekend camping trips down the coast to Parksville, Qualicum and Victoria. Dalt's prized Suburban led the way for many of the family's best and fondest memories. In 2002, faced with the difficult decision of moving his family, Dalton took early retirement and they moved back to Saskatchewan. It was here in Wadena that Dalt found his second and favourite career, working at Quill Plains. He worked with a close group of men whom Dalt respected and admired. His love of vehicles, gift of gab and his belief that everyone should drive a Chevy or GM made this the perfect choice!Dalton was an active member of the community, sitting on various boards and councils as well as taking any opportunity to help with fundraisers - especially if he could work the bar! He loved socializing with other people and keeping busy. Dalton always taught his girls to take pride in everything they do, to always make the best of any situation. There was no use sitting around dwelling on the past or bad experiences. They shape and make you who you are!In the early morning hours of March 10, 2015, Dalt passed away peacefully - 34 hours after arriving at the hospital. He was surrounded by Donna and the girls, showering him with kisses and happy memories.
