David Carl Jesmer, 79 of Wadena passed away July 17th, 2014 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
David was born July 16, 1935 to Carl and Jessie Jesmer in Wadena. He was the second eldest of nine children.
David grew up on the family farm close to the shores of Little Quill Lake. He attended school at the Quill City School. From a young age he helped his father with the livestock and working the fields. Through his adult life, till his retirement, he continued to grain and cattle farm with his brother Howard.
In 1971, he married Marion Turnbull. They had one daughter together, Joanne. David and Marion seperated in 1994.
Joanne was the apple of David's eye. Even though David was a cattle farmer and avid hunter, and Joanne was a vegetarian (which he struggled to understand), he supported her choices nonetheless.
Over the years David was active in the Lions Club and served on the Co-op board of directors for 17 years. He was on the local Wheat Pool Committee, was a 4H club leader and involved in the Farmer's Union. Later in retirement, he enjoyed volunteering on the Wadena Museum Board.
in 2001, David joined a new life partner Joyce Springer. Like David, Joyce also shared a love for the outdoors and together they would go quadding, snowmobiling and loved having a huge garden. They were also fond of traveling and in their years they shared together they travelled to California, British Columbia, South Dakota and Winnipeg. Always visiting family and friends along the way. Most precious for them was welcoming six grandchildren into their lives. Seeing kids always made David light up.
David was predeceased by this parents Carl 1972 and Jessie 2001; his sister Genevieve 1968; his brother Hugh 1999; and niece Sheri 1986.
Left to mourn in his passing are his daughter Joanne (Lonnie) Nicholls and grand-children Jesse and Reese of Tisdale. Also left to mourn are his partner Joyce Springer of Wadena; Joyce's son Wayne (Trish) Springer of Edmonton and their children Raven and Shelby; Joyce's daughter Roxanne (Greg) Chaykowski of Wadena and their children Conor and Nash. Siblings Lorraine (Ed) of Blackie; Lorna (Al) of Calgary; Howard (Gloria) of Wadena; Patricia of Calgary; Barry (Jenny) from Milo; Brian (Dane) , Puerto Vallarta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
