David Petrie
In keeping with David's wishes, no funeral service will be held at this time.
The Petrie family graciously declines the gift of flowers or

David Petrie passed away in Saskatoon on November 16, 2020. He was born in 1933 on the Petrie homestead at Lintlaw, Saskatchewan, to David and Mary “Dolly” Petrie. He attended Oxford Centre School and later Lintlaw School. David then started farming with his family and worked away for a few winters. He met his wife, Irene Morgan, in 1952, and married her the following year on October 3rd in Saskatoon. They had their son Garry in 1954, daughter Karen in 1956, and daughter Colleen in 1963. David was part of the Canadian Seed Grower’s Association for over 44 years, had a custom grain cleaning plant, and continued to farm into his early 80’s with his son on the homestead that was in the family for over 100 years. In 2008, David built his cabin in the bush, which was his happy place where he enjoyed quadding, snowmobiling, hunting, feeding the wildlife, and chasing beavers. He enjoyed socializing and hosting his family and friends, playing cribbage, and fishing.
David was predeceased by his father, his mother, his brothers (James “Jim”, William “Bill”, and Robert “Bud”), and his sister Mary. David is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, his son Garry (Eleanore), his daughter Karen Coley (Dave), his daughter Colleen Gowda (Greg), his sister Marie Engdahl (Ralph), his seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in David’s honor to Saskatoon Cancer Centre (Designation through the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan) or to a charity of your choice.
