Edward was born November 19, 1935, on the family farm, west of Mozart, SK.
Edward went to Mozart School. After grade 10, he moved to Edmonton, Alberta to go to Vocational School for Mechanics training. He worked various jobs in Alberta and eventually made his way back to Mozart to the farm.
He married Sianne Helgason in 1957 and together they had 3 sons, Scott, Sheldon, and Perry. Throughout his life, he worked many jobs and was a jack-of-all trades. Some of his talents were mechanics, backhoe operator, road construction, machinist, carpentry, farming and feed lot manager. Many people in the community called on him for all sorts of repair jobs because he could do and fix almost anything.
Edward was very active in the community. He was more than happy to lend a hand with his many talents! He helped build the Mozart Hall, the Credit
Union and the Pool elevator which he almost fell off of! He helped with installing the water works and did the trenching for the sewer system in Mozart. He was called on many times to repair the water works as it was a high maintenance system. He also devoted many years volunteering on the Co-op and Credit Union Boards and was an active Wheat Pool member. In short, he was a handyman willing to help out when he could.
He was one of the 3 Musketeers along with Gunnar Lindal and Emer Gudmundson and together they got into all sorts of trouble that cannot be mentioned here. Edward was a daredevil and a speed demon. He could often be found racing snowmobiles or flying his plane and if you dared to ride with him, you probably remember needing to change your shorts after. He loved curling, fastball, horseshoes, and fishing. He was very competitive at everything that he did.
Edward was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Sianne; his youngest son Perry; his parents Tony and Louise; his stepdad Bill Holmes; his brother Lawrence; his sisters Elva, Shirley, and Lynne; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Anna and Simbi Helgason; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Yvonne and Gylan Josephson; and brother-in-law Vern Welter.
