Edward Ladmer Sleziak

June 7, 1938 — March 12, 2024

Edward peacefully departed on March 12, 2024, at Preeceville Personal Care Home. He was born on June 7, 1938, to Wasyl and Lena Sleziak on their family farm. He attended Turnout School, where he learned carving from John Wilson. Ed found the love of his life in 1965 and married her. Together they raised three children: Kevin Edward (1966), Richard William (1968), and Karen Anne (1974). Later, they were blessed with grandchildren Amanda Lee and Donald Edward. They celebrated almost 55 years together.

He was active within the community, whether on council, with the Elks, or helping a neighbor in need. Ed was a tradesman, excelling not only as a farmer, welder, miner, and forklift operator, but also as a carver and mining school instructor.

For enjoyment, he liked playing hand and foot canasta and solitaire. When his health declined, he sold his house and moved to Preeceville, where he found happiness being around family and friends. He had the joy of attending his granddaughter's wedding, an occasion nothing could have been more important than, especially having a dance with her.

Ed was predeceased by his wife Ruth, son Kevin, parents Wasyl and Lena, brothers Pete, Mike, John, Paul, and Harold, and sister Nelly.

He is survived by his son Richard Sleziak of Winnipeg, MB, daughter Karen Gannon (Scot Mills) of Preeceville, SK, and grandchildren Amanda Gannon (Jacob Raccette) of Saskatoon, SK, and Donald Gannon of Preeceville, SK, brother Alec Sleziak of Langley, BC, and sister Pauline Beck of Preeceville, SK.
