Elaine Marie Paul, born on October 5, 1938, near Quesnel, British Columbia, passed away on June 12, 2024, at the Cudworth Nursing Home. Elaine grew up in Quesnel, where at 18, she met the love of her life, Gilman Ness. Their love story began then, and they never looked back.
In the mid-1980s, seeking a better lifestyle, Elaine and Gilman moved to Fort St. John and acquired a homestead. After several years, they sold the farm and relocated to Dawson Creek to another farm. They later moved to a farm east of Archerwill and finally settled in Fosston. After Gilman's passing, Elaine returned to Archerwill. Due to her failing health, she moved to Rose Valley Manor and then made her final move to the Cudworth Nursing Home. Elaine loved it there; it truly felt like home to her. She cherished the residents and staff, who loved her in return.
Elaine and Gilman shared an unconditional love and enjoyed spending time together, working side by side on farm chores, and dining out with friends (especially liver & onions). Elaine was known for her kind and friendly nature, excellent sense of humor, and remarkable marksmanship—she was always the one to handle the bears that wandered into their yard! Her hobbies included a deep love for animals, especially horses, and beading.
One of Elaine's greatest joys was sponsoring two children in Honduras for many years. She affectionately called them "her children" and loved sending gifts to them at the Brighter Horizons Ministries School in Honduras.
Elaine is predeceased by her beloved partner, Gilman (May 14, 2004). She will be remembered for her warmth, friendliness, and the special connections she made with everyone she met.
