Bette (Elizabeth Joyce) Bolt passed away at Wynyard Golden Acres nursing home on March 24, 2017, at the age of 83.
Bette was born the eighth child of 10 to Les and Katherine Harding in the Semans District on September 25, 1933. She attended school in the Kamanatha District.
In her younger years, Bette worked on the family farm. She also lived with her sister Gert for a time. She eventually became a telephone operator in Dafoe. While there, she met the love of her life, Denis Bolt. They were married on March 21, 1953, and farmed on the George Bolt family farm until moving to Wynyard in January 1973 where Bette worked at Golden Acres until her retirement at 65.
Together they raised five children.
Bette thoroughly enjoyed a good game of cards and, on occasion, would throw a deck or two at Denis. We may have called her out for having her father’s temper a time or two. The great bane of her life was her “Harding hair,” fine and thin. She eventually even learned to like the English rare roast beef.
Bette’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They would all go to Maple Grove for visits and a game of shuffleboard. Many a shuffleboard tournament would be played while we celebrated family functions.
Bette was a great lover of her “Books” and getting her lottery tickets every Wednesday. She also loved her drives anywhere, anytime – the more the better. A favorite was taking the boys donuts during seeding and harvest. It became a bit of a tradition.
Bette was predeceased by Denis, her husband of 50 years; son Grady; and by sons-in-law, Donald Page and Kevin McPherson.
She leaves to mourn her children, son Dale (Lorre), their children, Scott (Rhonda), grandchildren, Hillary, Hudson, Aaron, Alyssa and Logan; and Tod (Sara), grandchildren Wyatt, Walker, and Connor; daughter Debra (Colin), their children, Tracy (Aaron), grandchildren Mason, Maija and Morgan, and son Jarrod; daughter Shelley and her child Ashley (Grant), grandchildren, Madison and Reghan; daughterLeann (Dan), Shawn and Meghan; daughter-in-law Shelly, her son Kyle and granddaughter Amelia; sister Charlotte; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Harding, Cathy Harding and Joyce Bolt.
Bette will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
