Elizabeth Warrack

May 22, 1933 — March 17, 2025

Quill Lake

With love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth (Chernoff) Warrack on March 17, 2025, at the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson. Liz was born on May 22, 1933, in Veregin, Saskatchewan, where she was raised on the family farm.

Growing up, Liz enjoyed singing, playing guitar, softball, and curling. As a young woman, she ventured to Vancouver for work before returning to Regina to join Saskatchewan Government Telephones. Her life took a new turn at her sister Mary’s wedding, where, as the bridesmaid, she met her future husband, Don Warrack. They married in January 1961 and made their home on a farm near Quill Lake, where they raised six children, grew a thriving garden complete with a raspberry patch, and kept chickens. Once the children were in school, Liz took on a cooking job in Watson, sharing her love of food with others.

In their retirement years, Liz and Don traveled across the United States and to other continents, creating memories together. In 2019, they moved off the farm and settled in Quill Lake. Liz found joy in simple pleasures—gathering around the kitchen table with family to share fried chicken and chocolate sheet cake, crafting on her sewing machines, and playing a good card game.

Liz was predeceased by her parents, George and Molly Chernoff; her siblings, Nick, Walter (Irene), Mary Carlson, Sam (Pearl), and Victoria; and her beloved daughter, Lyla Hitchings.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Donald Warrack; her children: Lorey Elliott (Dean), Michael, Trisha, Michelle, Ken (Debbie), Jamie, and Deanne; her grandchildren: Kevin and Leisha Hitchings; Kelly (Maureen), Dustin, and Jessica; Leona Kruger, Reilly, Austin, and Shandelle; and Kirt (Kim). Liz was also blessed with great-grandchildren Charlotte and Violet Hitchings, and Lyla-Rae Sutton.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge and to all who offered their care and support during Liz's final years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in gratitude for the compassionate care they provided Liz.
