Fern Adell Bennett was born to Frank and Lillian Darling on February 6, 1922.

Fern's parents lived on a farm until 1928 at which time they moved to Lac Vert, where her father owned and operated a garage. Fern attended school in Lac Vert, where she completed her grade eight.

In 1936 she and her mother moved to Saskatoon, where they both worked until their move to Elfros to operate a small cafAC.. It was in Elfros that she met and married Stan in 1940.

Fern and Stan lived in Elfros until 1944, at which time they moved to Fosston with their young son Bill. Both their children, Bill and Maxine were raised in Fosston. Stan passed away in 1998, but Fern continued to live in Fosston until 2003 at which time she moved into seniors' housing in Wadena and remained there until her passing in the Wadena Hospital on the afternoon of September 20 with a caring nurse at her side.

In the late 1950s Fern and Luella Einarson did painting for the school unit, private homes and businesses. In the late 1960s Fern worked in Rose Valley for Janet Gall in a grocery store and later for Kachur's dry goods.

Fern loved music, was a talented piano player, enjoyed dancing, playing cards and sports. She can well be remembered for her participation in ball and curling. Community service was a big part of Fern's life. She was a long-standing member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, was involved with seniors' housing in Fosston and volunteered for meals-on-wheels delivery in Wadena.

Fern was predeceased by her parents; husband Stan; brother-and sister-in-law, Byrl and Margaret Darling; and infant brother Franklin.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son Bill (Wilma); daughter Maxine Just; grandson Terry (Rhonda); great-grandchildren, Tyren, Tyce, Rylan and Raedyn Bennett; as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends she has made on her journey of life.
