George Stettner

August 7, 1957 — September 22, 2022

With great sadness we announce the passing of George (Jim) James Stettner. Jim was surrounded with love from family and peace as he took his final breath at home in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan on the evening of Thursday, September 22nd, 2022.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children Cory (Melanie), Christopher (Anne-Marie), Samantha (Dylan), and Robert (Laura); and his grandchildren Marrisa, Aliyah, Taylor, Gabe, Aiden, Gretchen, and Abby.

Jim will be remembered as a loyal friend who could be counted on at any time to lend a hand, tool, or advice. Jim’s work ethic, drive, and determination was second to none. Once a job or task was started, he ensured it was not completed until satisfied with impeccable results.

Jim had a great smile that surely lit up any room upon entering it along with a sense of humor to match.  His presence was captivating. Jim was able to weigh in on any topic and spoke his mind freely.

Jim loved spending time in his garage. Jim could often be found there enjoying his music playing loudly. Jim loved watching baseball games, especially his favourite teams the Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves. When able to, Jim loved the outdoors, and in particular hunting and fishing.

Most importantly, Jim will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend. We were lucky to have experienced Jim’s love and it will be missed.

Per Jim’s request, there will be no funeral or celebration of life.

The family would like to thank his nurse, Celise, for the wonderful care and assistance she provided to Jim on his final journey in life. The family would also like to thank Tompkins Funeral Home in Wadena.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you remember one of Jim’s favourite phrases, “Here for a good time and not a long time,” and go out for a cup of coffee with a friend or family member and share a laugh.
