Glenda Frances Arsenault, 71, of Wadena Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, with family by her side.
Glenda is survived by her husband Urbain, son Cory (Rachel), daughter Sheri, stepson Tom (Betty), stepson Ed (Deb), her siblings: Shirley, Lawrence (Ann), Peggy (Jacques), Donna, Carol (Jim), Gail (Allan), and Robert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Glenda was born to Jean and Paul Stenbeck on November 19, 1952. She was the 9th of 11 children. She grew up in the Wadena area, working at Dave’s Diner for a while. Glenda moved to Flin Flon with her then husband Wayne and son Cory. While there, she had her daughter Sheri. A few years later, Glenda met her current husband, Urbain, and became a blended family with Urbain and his two sons, Tom and Ed.
Glenda started working with Home Care in Flin Flon once the children were in school. She loved working with her clients. Being able to help them made her happy. She had many clients that, when it was not her turn to be there, they would ask “Where’s Glenda?” In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, curling, and of course lots of fishing in the summer. Even though she wasn’t’ crazy about being on a boat, she still enjoyed the fresh air and fun.
In 1997, Glenda and Urbain moved from Flin Flon to a 10-acre acreage north of Kuroki. This was a nice little spot where they could raise some chickens and have a big garden. Glenda was always happy out in the vegetable garden or flower garden. She also decided to do some babysitting. Those children brought so much joy to both Glenda and Urbain. They were like a part of the family, even if they did eat nothing but Kraft dinner and hot dogs.
Glenda enjoyed cooking and baking. There were always some cookies or a cake “just in case company stops by.” She also loved a good feed of live lobster from time to time.
Around 2009, the decision was made to leave the acreage and move into Wadena. Glenda still did her babysitting and enjoyed being outside in the garden, or just sitting and enjoying the birds chirping and the sun shining. She was always there to lend a hand to the neighbors when they needed. Even after Glenda and Urbain moved into Spruce Manor, she was still willing to help out wherever and whenever she could. Some common phrases that have been said about Glenda are “She’s always so good to me.” “She’s always so helpful.” “She’s such a kind soul.”
Glenda is predeceased by her father Paul, mother Jean, brothers Ken and Donald, and sister Joyce.
Glenda was a remarkable wife, mother sister, aunt, grandma, and friend. She will be missed by many.
