May 19, 1923 - March 27, 2016
At the age of 92 years, 10 months and 9 days Hellen passed away peacefully at 7:17 p.m. on Easter Sunday 2016, surrounded by the love of her family. After a final 5-week hospital stay and years of many health issues, Hellen's heart finally gave up. She left this world to meet her Maker.
Hellen was predeceased by her husband Harold; brother Oliver; sisters, Delores and Marion; son Stan and grandsons, Todd and Craig.
She is remembered by her brother Johnny; half-sisters, Arvella and Florence; sons, Cecil (Lynda), Bruce (Diana) and Jim (Laurie) and daughter Pam (Terry); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Neil, and sisters-in-law, Eva and LuVerne.
Hellen's life was not easy. She was a hard worker who seemed to never tire. After a long day of stacking bales or weeding a large garden, there was still all the usual housework to be done and she never complained. Upon retirement to Naicam, life got easier and Hellen and Harold were better off than at any time of their lives.
Hellen loved all family times. Many of her birthdays were spent as an extended family affair at Pam and Terry's. She was born, raised and lived in Dahlton and rarely left home. There were occasional visits to her children's homes in various parts of Canada that she considered real adventures. An Alaskan cruise and Disney World at Christmas were two very special times for her.
The family would like to thank everyone who is present and those unable to attend but hold Hellen in their hearts. We thank everyone who has offered condolences. A very special thank you goes to the caregivers at Melfort Hospital and a huge thank you to nurse Natalie, who we have adopted as a sister.
