Iona Christianson

I ona Margaret Christianson, daughter of Cliff and Helen Lee, was born on April 22, 1942 in Wadena, SK. She passed away on September 22, 2019 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK after a short illness.

Iona married Ralph Christianson on August 20, 1960. They farmed east of Hendon and raised four children. They moved off the farm to Regina in 1993 to manage apartment buildings, retiring in 2003.

When the family was young, she baked bread, buns and goodies every Monday. She also sewed many items for her growing family. She liked snowmobiling and driving truck at harvest and had a big garden in which the kids liked to play.

Iona worked at Hendon Credit Union and later Kelvington, to have some adult company, conversation and to put her skills to work. Iona was a good bookkeeper and gave good financial advice. She also did income tax for many years for friends and family.

She enjoyed camping and socializing, loved working on genealogy and the family tree and spent many hours crocheting afghans; we all have one or two to wrap up in and remember.

Iona also loved to do paint-by-numbers, sketch and have long visits on the phone (short if it was a good show on Netflix). Coffee with sugar, creamer and toast, which was always cut in half, and her computer was how she started each and every day.

Iona was predeceased by her husband Ralph (2007), parents Cliff (1989) and Helen (2004) and brother Duane (2010).

She is survived by her son Harley (Kathy) and grandchildren Dustin and Kailey (Roy); son Richard (LeeAnne), grandchild Jordan (Meaghan) and great grandchildren Cypress Lee and Maya Lou and grandchildren Brendan (Dana) and Cole; daughter Sharlene (Gerald), grandchild Shalyn (John) and great grandchild Kadence; son Sheldon (Toni) and grandchildren Corbin and Carlee; sisters Karen and Pat; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of good friends.
