Steinunn Ivonne Helgason was born second of the Helgason twins on a farm north of Foam Lake on January 1, 1938, to Sigmundur and Anna Helgason. Ivonne and Sianne were inseparable since their birth - helping each other every day, speaking their own language and spending as much time together as possible until we lost Sianne on December 14, 1998. The girls went to Little Quill School, Mozart School and then graduated from Wynyard High School. After high school, Ivonne earned her lab and x-ray technician diploma at Wadena Hospital with Bill Wallin. Ivonne and Gylan Josephson met as young children and later began dating. They married on August 3, 1959, in Wynyard. Their first born was Farley Wynn on January 3, 1962. Shanna Lane soon followed on November 4, 1963. Gylan began teaching in Elfros, so they lived for a short while in Wadena and then moved to Quill Lake, where Gylan still resides. Ivonne worked at the Quill Lake Library for years. She also worked for 25-plus years as a lab and x-ray tech at the Quill Lake Clinic. She became very close to the doctors for whom she worked. Ivonne took many, many community classes. She excelled at upholstery, painting, cooking and could sewing anything! She made amazing parkas and beautiful moccasins. She created countless silk-trimmed baby blankets and literally kept her children and grandchildren in clothes. Ivonne and Gylan loved to dance and valued their time with family at Quill Lake and Fishing Lake. They spoiled their grandchildren and all animals in their lives. Ivonne was famous for her love of shopping (she was always dressed beautifully) and for baking the most amazing buns. Ivonne and Gylan's children gave them five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Farley married Lisa on November 9, 1996. They have two children, Kendra and Heather. Shanna married David Carriere on August 2, 1986; they have three children, Monica, her children, Karissa, Daylan, Koden; Travis (Lyndsey); and Chelsy (Brodie), and children Reece and Harlon. Ivonne was predeceased by her father Sigmundur and her "other half" and twin, Sianne.
