James was predeceased by his father Jim Nippi, his sisters Crystal and Rita, his brother Paul, his paternal grandparents Nora Slippery and Bobby Pauchay and his maternal grandparents Besigan Nippi and Alec Wapasuce.

James is survived by his loving partner Hanna Blais, his mother Linda Slippery, his children Tavin, James Jr., Cierra, Jordan, and Memphis and his siblings Lisa, Johnny, Mikey, Ida, Valerie, Cindy, and Sidney.
