Jemima Thomasson, aged 91, passed away with family at her side on June 11, 2017 at Wynyard Golden Acres. Born near Fishing Lake, May 6,1926. She was the youngest daughter in the family of 10 born to Karl & Annie Heistad. Jemima married Oli Thomasson July 3, 1950. They complimented each other and had celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed away in 2000. Jemima and Oli moved from family farm to Mozart in 1957. They chose the Mozart community to raise their children Jeanette, Pauline & Tom. She gratefully supported that community for 42 years. Jemima took great pride in being a homemaker. She loved entertaining family & friends, caring for her flowers & maintaining her picturesque yard. Jemima was a generous hostess. Family & friends remembers her wonderful cooking & baking and how she enjoyed sharing it. She also loved old time music, dancing, dressing up for holidays. Jemima moved to Wynyard prior to Oli’s death in 2000. She enjoyed the friendships at Westview before her move to the nursing home.
Predeceased by her parents; husband Oli; daughter Jeanette; brothers: Lawrence (Margaret), Calvin (Ethel), Quinton (Freda), Rudolph (Lois) and Ole Heistad; sisters: Bernice (Louis) Hamilton, Connie (Alfred) Hordal and Gertie (Allan) Holmstrom and many in-laws.
Jemima will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Pauline & (Ron) Selinger, her son Tom Thomasson; grandchildren Stephen (Lisa) & Shane (Stephanie) Selinger, Mark (Dana) & Michelle Heshka; great grandchildren Sierra, James, Macy and Oliver; brother Sydney Heistad (partner Lorraine), sister-in-law Lorna Heistad; many nieces and nephews and best friend Vicky Chasky.
A private internment service will be held at the Mozart Cemetery, Thomasson plot.
