It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Malene Bohl on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in the MICU at Regina General Hospital. Joanne was born on July 5, 1945, the only child of Irvin and Marion Otterdahl. She was raised as the treasure that she was and was loved dearly from her first breath to her last. Joanne spent her youth in Margo where her parents operated the general store. Margo was where she spent her school years and where she met the love of her life, Gerald Bohl. Joanne and Gerald were married in Regina in 1962. They welcomed their first child, Tammy, into the world on January 21, 1963. That spring they returned to Margo where they would spend the remainder of their years. On April 19, 1964, their only son, Robin, arrived. These were busy years for Joanne! She now had two very young children and her dad became ill in Regina. Many hours were spent helping her parents during this difficult time. Soon following, Joanne was ready for her next challenge and she began a career as a Tupperware consultant. This was a great fit for her personality, as she was always very social and enjoyed meeting new people. In July of 1971, Joanne and Gerald moved from "town" to their farm eight miles north of Margo, where Gerald continues to reside. A few months after this move, on Gerald's birthday, September 1, Erin was born and this generation of their family would be complete. In the mid-1970s, Joanne's next career began when she taught Chinese cooking classes throughout the Parkland region. Joanne could always be relied upon for her documentation of various things, including keeping a list of those she taught. That number grew to 1000 by the time she ended that phase of her life. Joanne felt her greatest accomplishment was in the family she and Gerald created. She took great pride in being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had an incredible gift of making those around her feel very special and loved, and that extended outside the borders of her family as well. Joanne's health and mobility gradually deteriorated over the years and she spent the last 2A½ years of her life in long-term care; first in Canora and most recently in Invermay. She was always very gracious and grateful for the care she received. Joanne was predeceased by her parents, Irvin and Marion Otterdahl and her in-laws, Julius and Evelyn Bohl. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; her children, Tammy Irving (David), Ashley, Whitney (Aaron Faulds), and Braden; Robin Bohl (Mai), Kristen (Arlen Wolkowski), Stefan, and Caitlin (Jordan Kerluke), Kimberly and Katana MacLean; and Erin Haas, Carly, Cassidy and Brielle. She also leaves three great-grandsons: Landyn, Oliver and Dalyn.
