Joseph (Jos) Bandura was born on a farm near Wroxton, Sask., on October 29, 1923, to Jacob and Dora Bandura. Jos was the oldest of seven children.
In 1947, Jos met the love of his life, Francis Labanowich, while he was working on her parents' farm near Fosston. They married on October 27, 1948, in Fosston. They moved to a farm near Kelvington where they lived from 1948 to 1994. There they raised their five children: Marvin, Leonard, Johnny, Marlene and Brian. In 1994, they sold their farm and moved to Wadena.
Jos enjoyed farming, gardening, carpentry, visiting with family and friends, working with the museum, word search puzzles and much more. He especially enjoyed being able to go out and help his grandson Craig on his farm - bringing out lunch and coffee, moving equipment and watching the equipment roll over the fields. He was always amazed at how the equipment has evolved and expanded from back in the early days of farming.
Jos lost his life-long love Francis in 2006 after a hard fought battle with cancer throughout most of her life. In 2013, Jos moved to the Rose Valley Manor, where he took care of the flowers and enjoyed small carpentry projects for the manor. He met many new friends and especially enjoyed teasing the staff.
Jos was predeceased by his wife Francis in 2006, brother Frank in 1927, sister Martha in 2013; and brothers-in-law, John Babichuk and John Melnychuk.
He leaves behind his sisters, Annie and Glenna; brothers, Albert and Milton; brother-in-law Mike Perpelitz; his children, Marvin (Sharon), Leonard, Johnny (Elizabeth), Marlene (Garth), and Brian (Karen); 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
