John Schultz

April 8, 1923 — February 22, 2017

With gratitude for a long and faithful life, the family lovingly remembers the life of John Schultz.

John was born on the home quarter at Kuroki, Sask to Herman and Augusta Schultz and raised on the farm.  John married Irene Schwanke on June 6, 1954 and together they worked on the farm and raised four children.

Before getting married, John worked in the bush driving horses and skidding logs during the winter at Usherville (near Hudson Bay).   After John and Irene were married, the worked hand-in-hand building their farm life and raising a family. During those busy years, he also served many years as a councillor for the RM of Sasman and on the Wheat Board Committee. In 1985, John and Irene began to build a new house in Wadena, wherethey semi-retired as John continued to help on the farm up until just a few years ago.

John was a soft-spoken, kind-hearted and loving person.  His sense of humor, generosity and strong faith brought joy to everyone around him and his life was full and complete.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Irene, and their children: Garry (Karen) of Regina, Darrell (Audrey) of Kelvington, Karen (Jeff) Mazurkewich of Saskatoon, David (June) of Regina and his grandchildren: Nicholas (Karlie), Michelle, Kaitlin, Logan, Travis, Chad, Matthew and Adam as well as one precious great granddaughter (Callie).

John is also lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law:Leonard (Marguerite) Schwanke, sister-in-laws: Mary Schultz, Irene Schultz, Linda (Arlin) Ryan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents Herman and Augusta, brothers: Walter (Pauline), Emil (Myrtle), Edward (Mary), Otto(Dorothy), Andy (Bernice), Alex, Oscar, sisters: Pauline(Rudolf) Novak, Vonda (Ed) Radom, Bertha (Dave) Ott.

We would like to thank the Wadena Hospital staff and EMS crew, and everyone in the Cardiac Care Unit and Unit 6F at the Regina General Hospital for their wonderful care during a difficult time.  You were our earthly angels.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wadena Hall.

Auf wiedersehen, till we meet again.
