It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Slusarchuk on May 28, 2014, at St. Paul's Hospital. John was born on April 12, 1928, to Harry and Stefanida Slusarchuk and grew up on the family farm near Lintlaw. He married the love of his life, Helen Daniluk, on October 29, 1954, and lived on the same yard site as his parents. They farmed, raised three children and exposed their grandchildren to a farmer's way of life, moving to Wadena in 2009.
John loved his hunting, trapping, fishing and sausage-making (especially the tasting part - same result each and every time: "Never enough garlic!") He loved watching his beloved Blue Jay games on TV as well as watching baseball and hockey games locally. He spent much time with his family and friends playing cards. Many enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humour. John was on the Lintlaw Pool Committee for 30 years, the East-Central Co-op Board of Directors and on the church vestry.
He is loved and remembered by Helen, his wife of 59A½ years; children, Ken (Lorraine), Shannon (Terry) and Kelly (Sherry); grandchildren, Kendell (Judy), Amber (Chris), Jared, Kurtis, Shae-Lyn and Reilee; great-grandchildren, Kendry and Klara; sister Agnes (Ernest) Schultz brother-in-law Harry (Irene) Daniluk; sister-in-law Anne (Walter) Francis; and many nieces and nephews.
