Laura Fay Alberts

May 8, 1950 — February 25, 2025

Ketchen, SK

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laura “Fay” Alberts, who passed away peacefully at Kelvington Hospital on February 25, 2025, with her beloved husband, Bob, by her side.

Fay was born on May 8, 1950, in Preeceville, SK, to Herb and Laura Scheller. She grew up in a big family as one of seven children, surrounded by love and laughter.

Fay was a woman of many talents. She spent much of her career as a secretary but later discovered her true passion working as a snipper operator in the bush—a job she absolutely loved. She often told Bob that if she had known working in the bush was an option, she never would have become a secretary in the first place. Together, Fay and Bob later started a greenhouse, running it for five years before passing it on to their dear friends and neighbors, Lorissa and Clint Petras. Fay took great pride in mentoring Lorissa, sharing her vast knowledge of plants and gardening.

Known for her big heart, remarkable gardening skills, and talent in sewing, knitting, and crocheting, Fay had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Her deep freeze was always stocked with delicious homemade baking, ready for anyone who stopped by. She loved being a mother and grandmother, as she would show that through every visit with them. In Ketchen, she became a cherished “grandma figure” to the entire community.

Fay leaves behind her loving husband of 25 years, Bob; children and grandchildren, Michael (Lori) and their children Nathan and Teagan. Michelle (Dean) and their children Braydon (Judith) and Sarah. Also her stepchildren and grandchildren, Jody (Tracy), and their children, Levi and Brett. Dallas (Edwin) and their children Elena and Rhea. Fay will be deeply missed by many other relatives, close friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Her legacy of warmth, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A Private Family Gathering will be held.
