Lawrence Jan Olynick was born on September 10, 1952, to John and Christine Olynick at Rose Valley, Saskatchewan.
He was raised on a farm northeast of Quill Lake and attended elementary and high school in Quill Lake.
As a young man he was very athletic. He loved to play soccer and was a first-pick choice for the team. He also loved to play the game of crokinole and would usually beat whoever would challenge him.
After he was done school, he ventured out to work on the rigs. On his way home from work, he met his future wife on the STC bus. In 1982, he married Laurie Sobchishin and took over the family farm, where he spent many years farming.
In 1985, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter April, who was the pride and joy of his life. Together he and April enjoyed planting the garden, going on many sled rides, and skating on an outdoor pond behind the farmyard.
In the winter he also loved to trap. He was even able to trap enough coyotes to pay for a family holiday in Vegas.
To many people he was known as "Zeke" and everybody loved his laugh and giggles.
Lawrence loved to spend his days fishing and hunting and would often come home with many prizes won at fish derbies he attended. He was always eager to be the first one on the ice to start the season.
One of his favourite times of the year was Halloween. He was always able to disguise himself to keep everyone in suspense until the end of the night.
He was predeceased by his father John Olynick, brother Calvin Olynick, and nephews Lyle Cole and Derek Yaworski.
He is survived by his daughter April; mother Christine Olynick; sisters, Marlene (Don) Dressler, Shirley (Calvin) Ulmer and Linda (Barry) Cole; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
