Leonard was born on December 1, 1943, to Carl Johnson and Nellie Currie. When he was young, he lived with his parents on the farm northeast of Lintlaw, SK and, although he had moved out to go to work, he continued to call the farm home until 1975 when his parents moved into Lintlaw.
Leonard took his schooling in the Lintlaw area, Kelvington, SK, Sturgis, SK and Flin Flon, MB for a bit. He worked in various industries from B.C. to Manitoba before starting his own welding business in Lintlaw, “Len’s Welding”, which he ran for many years.
In his later years, Leonard met Adeline Leech and they resided together until her passing in 2009. In 2010, he met Genevieve Schreiner and they were married in 2011. They lived in Lintlaw until 2017 when they moved to Humboldt, SK.
Leonard served as Mayor of Lintlaw for several years as well as on the Housing Authority Board. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, visiting and card games. Leonard was a gentle soul.
Leonard is survived by his wife Genevieve, his uncle Ron and aunt Shirley McKeever of Campbell River, B.C. as well as many cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Nellie Johnson, sister Becky Johnson, Adeline Leech and numerous aunts and uncles.
