Loreen Lund passed away at the Kelvindell Lodge in Kelvington, Saskatchewan on January 23rd, 2023. She was 91 years old.
Loreen was born on the family farm north of Kelvington on November 4th, 1931. She took her schooling at Hill Peak School for grades 1 to 8, after which she attended high school at Kelvington High. She then pursued her passion and went to Teacher's College and university in Winnipeg. Loreen taught school for 25 years.
Her teaching career took her to numerous places in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manitoba, and lastly to the Yukon where she completed her teaching career.
During these years her enthusiasm for travel took her to wonderful destinations around the world. Due to poor health, she returned to Kelvington for her retirement to be near family, where she became involved in community services and social activities.
Loreen was predeceased by her parents: Minnie and Ole, brother-in- law, Joe Dragatis, and nephew-in-law Mark Mehmal.
Left to mourn her passing are siblings: Olga (Ed) Hunnie, Alvin Lund, Wilda Dragatis, Wilma (Maylese) Griffith, nieces: Nickie, Laurel (Garth), Kirsten (Richard), nephews: Mark (Leanne), Jason (Jenn), and their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 cousins: Shirley (Tommy) Blenkin, Irene Bodchon, and Faye Brecht.
Loreen was the matriarch of the family, always looking after us. We will miss her but we are thankful for her long life, for her positive influence, and for the rich legacy of compassion, kindness, and generosity she left with us.
The family would like to thank everyone who reached out with sympathy messages and phone calls during this sad time. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated and will always be remembered.
