Lynn Allan Gradin

August 16, 1940 — May 20, 2024

Wadena, SK

"Thank you to everyone for attending Lynn's memorial service, and for the outpouring of love, support, and kindness we received during this difficult time.  We appreciate all the phone calls and texts we received, and are very thankful for those who donated in Lynn's memory."    -- The Family of Lynn Gradin

Lynn Allan Gradin passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Care Home in the early afternoon of Monday, May 20, 2024, at the age of 83. Lynn, the seventh child of Sadie and Elis Gradin, was born on August 16, 1940, at the Wadena Hospital. He attended Moosehorn School and Wadena Composite High. He married Maureen Ramstead in 1961 and together they raised four daughters, Debbie, Donna, Darlene, and Denise. Years later, he met Connie Anderson at an old-time dance and then enveloped little Jennifer Jones as one of their grandchildren.

In addition to farming, Lynn worked hard at the auction market, on construction crews, hauling cattle and so many other jobs. Being a true Jack-of-all-Trades, he was always employed. Lynn was a talented craftsman, who enjoyed working with his hands. Whether it was welding, using the forge, restoring tractors, or building basements, shops, houses or oak furniture, we were all proud of the results. Each project done to perfection. Lynn’s mental math skills and cursive writing were both exceptional.

He volunteered throughout the local communities and was a great neighbor, who especially looked out for the elderly. Lynn took very good care of the Scandia Lutheran Cemetery at Hendon.

He was a welcoming face to the riders of the Handi-Van, and was vital to the Van Corp, not only as its driver, but as its maintenance man as well. Lynn and Connie were instrumental in how the van operated for many years and became indispensable to the Van Corp.

Ken and Greg, his Clydesdale horses, were a source of great joy to Lynn. Hitched up to a homebuilt wagon, he paraded them around with every bit of chrome polished to a perfect shine.

Lynn was predeceased by his parents Sadie (1991) and Elis(1957); sisters Iva (2015), Elna (1999), Eunice (2010), Elsie(2018), baby girl Gradin (1933); and brother Eldon (2010).

Surviving him are Connie Anderson and her daughter Linda (Ronald) Gory; daughter Debbie (Terrance) Kapeluck and their children Adrienne, Layne and Carissa; daughter Donna (Dale) Bindig and their son Jayden; daughter Darlene (Lars) Rogers and their children Kayla and Kyle; daughter Denise Brooks and her sons Ridge, Hunter and Mason; Jennifer Jones; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Glen (Dianne) Gradin and Neil (Dianne) Gradin; sister Connie (Don) MacKay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
