Margrat (Irvine) Johnson was born on March 14, 1923 to Hugh and Elizabet Irvine on a farm at Tantallon, SK. Her family moved to Kelvington area in 1931. She went to school at Pipestone Valley and finished school in the Batestown District.
When she passed grade 8, she left school to go work for Mrs. Willard Hall (Edith). This is where she met Levin Johnson. The two married on October 20, 1944. They lived on the farm in the High Hill area. The couple had four children—three girls and one boy.
Levin and Margrat grain farmed and cattle farmed. Margrat kept busy looking after the cattle in the winter and raising her children, as Levin spent the winters sawing logs. In later years the two enjoyed taking some bus tours together.
After selling the farm to their son, Margrat and Levin moved to Kelvington. Margrat joined the North Country Club and was very active in it. When Levin passed away in 2002, she moved to the Villa and was very active member of the Villa community as well. Margaret really enjoyed her farm life, as well as playing cards, listening to music, and bingo once she moved into Kelvington.
On July 31, 2019, Margrat moved to Kelvindell Lodge where she lived until her passing.
Margrat is pre-deceased by her husband Levin, son Gary, infant grandson Longman, and many brother and sisters.
Left to mourn her passing are daughters Gail (Harold) Corley of Valemount, BC, Shirley (Walter) Longman of Kelvington, SK, and Karen (Lloyd) Strome of Kelvington, SK. Also left to remember her are her grandchildren Terry (Terry Lee) Corley, Shelley (Corley) Forman, Wendy (Kris) Molle, Curtis (Lana) Longman, Calvin (Alyssa) Longman, Jennifer (Michael) Lundago and Wendell (Jossee) Strome.
