It is with great sadness we say good-bye to our beloved mother, grandmother  and great-grandmother at the age of 99.  We are so grateful to have had her in our lives to appreciate her wisdom, calm demeanor and incredible memory.   We will miss her loving smile.

Marit Grytbak Danielson was born in Norway on 19 April 1924, to Kari & Mikkel Mickelson. Mrs Mickelson emigrated from Norway in August 1930, arriving with her children in Halifax, Nova Scotia to join her husband Mikkel who was already in Canada.  The Mickelson family homesteaded in Dalton, Saskatchewan where Marit attended school, learning English while being totally immersed.

Marit married Harvey Danielson in October 1942.  Together they farmed and raised 9 children: Marlin (deceased April 2020), Elaine (husband Julien deceased July 2007), Jeanette, Allan (Laverne), Frances (deceased Nov 1975), Donna (Kevin), Dennis (Gaylene), Sharon, Wayne (Rhonda). Marit was predeceased by her husband Harvey August 2010.  She remained living on the farm by herself until 2023, when her children finally convinced her to move to Assisted Living in Tisdale.

Marit was a proud grandmother of 19, and great-grandmother of 33 children  whom she especially enjoyed.

She  was an avid quilter, baker, sewer, knitter and gardener.  Watching TV curling and afternoon soap operas were a hit with her as well as an occasional cribbage game.  Marit particularly liked baking her native Norwegian desserts and foods and inspired her daughters & grand-daughters to carry on the tradition.

Marit was predeceased by her only sister Ragnhild, and her five brothers Magnar, John, Ole, Kaare (Mike) and Conrad.
