Mom passed away on December 22, 2017, just eleven days after celebrating her 85th birthday. She was born December 11, 1932, to Frank and Eva (Lisowski) Bozek in the Wishart district. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended Royal Rock country school and completed her Grade 9 education at Wishart School.

In 1953 she married Andy Woynarski. They were blessed with three children: Sherl, Rosemarie and Ambrose. After moving to Wynyard, Mom spent many years working at Plains Poultry. In 1971, Andy was killed in an accident. Mom then married John Nickolat in 1978 and they had many happy years together until the time of his death in 1999.

Mom loved gardening, reading, baking and cooking. No one ever left hungry when they came for a family gathering or a visit. Hardly before dishes would be cleaned and put away, there was more food ready to serve, because…. “surely, you must be hungry!” Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She never forgot birthdays or special occasions – she was a very good BABA to them!

Mom moved to the Maple Grove Seniors Complex in 2001. She enjoyed the companionship of the many friends that she made over the years. She moved to Golden Acres Care Home this past September after sustaining a fall. As much as possible, Mom participated in the activities there, even making scuffles earlier in December. Sadly, she passed away the evening of December 22.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Josie, Michael, Esther, Julius, Jean, Bryan and John.

She leaves to mourn her passing, daughter Sherl (Greg) Smith of Kenora, Ont., and their children, Ryan Smith (Krystina Musil) of Surrey, B.C., and Megan Smith (Steve Heidebrecht) of Winnipeg, Man.; Rosemarie (Paul) Ponak of Regina, and their children, Ashley Ponak (Kris Fortner) of Estevan, and Jordan Ponak (friend Rachael) of Regina; Ambrose (Pierrette) Woynarski of Wynyard, and her children Ryan (Keli) Little of Winnipeg, and their children Aiden, Erika, Jackson and Aliya, Desiree Little (Thomas Kerluke) of Elfros, their son Henry, and Codey Little of Wynyard. Also, special nieces, Loretta Woynarski, Cindy Selsky and Angela Johnson.

A special thank you to the Maple Grove residents, Golden Acres staff, and all who touched her life through their friendship, love and care. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Saskatchewan Kidney Foundation or to Golden Acres Nursing Home.
