Merle was born on June 15, 1921, to Nicoli and Elizabeth Lillebo at Kelvington. She was raised on the Lillebo farm with her four brothers and two sisters and attended Scofield School.

On November 14, 1940, she married Floyd Wickstrom from the Rosebud District. To this union five children were born. Merle was a farmer's wife and took an active role helping on the farm milking cows, rasing chickens and pigs, gardening, and cooking for many hired hands.

Merle was a member of the Rosebud Ladies Aid and enjoyed working with the ladies in the community during many events that were held at the Rosebud Hall.

Merle and Floyd had a lot of fun on many camping and fishing trips with Mac and Ruby, Sam and Noreen, Ted and Merle. There were card games played till the wee hours while enjoying the company of good friends.

While living in Wadena, she kept busy bowling, curling and going to the Seniors' Drop In to play cards and shuffleboard. It appeared that Merle felt an evening of bingo or cards at a friend's home was often a great way to finish off the days as she would often do just that. Something else she had fun doing was to join some of her friends on a bus trip to a casino.

Family was very important to Merle and she loved to be together as a family.

Merle passed away on November 7. She was predeceased by her husband Floyd; son Eldon, daughter Doreen and son Maurice; grandchildren, Evan and Reade, and great-grandchild Dainin; brothers, George, Leonard, Enoch and Otto; and sisters, Serena and Mildred.

Merle leaves to mourn her daughters, Arlene (Edd) Feairs and Iva (John) Joslin; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, five great, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
