Myron Salapak was born on September 18, 1936, in Wishart, SK and passed away peacefully on January 4, 2022 at the age of 85. He was the third of eight children born to Alex and Tetianna (Alice) Wasylyshyn.

Myron grew up on the family homestead where he continued to live and farm until moving to Regina where he retired. As a boy Myron attended school in West Bend, he left school after Grade 6 to work as a farm hand for their neighbours to help support the family. Myron was a deeply committed, hardworking family man. He held many jobs while working on the family farm and raising his family. He worked at the Bankend Hotel, drove school bus for 16 years while working part time at South Side Service and eventually took a full-time position at South Side Service. In the late 90’s, he moved to Regina and continued to work at Markusson New Holland, after they opened their new business in White City. He enjoyed setting up machinery and delivering it all over the prairies. He spent many hours on the road travelling all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba, making friends with all the farmers.

Myron married Josephine (Joey) Bodnarchuk in October of 1969. They had three daughters Stacy, Susanne (Susie) and Sharon. Myron enjoyed attending their school functions and extracurricular activities always volunteering to drive the bus for band trips. He never missed any band concerts, curling bonspiels, badminton tournaments or Air Cadet trips to SaskCadet. He loved working on the farm with his family finding joy in tending to the cows and pigs and cutting wood for the many wiener roasts and barbecues they had. He enjoyed many evenings playing cards and visiting with his sisters, their families and all the neighbours around West Bend. Christmas was always a favorite time for him, when he would get to hear his daughters sing Ukrainian Christmas carols.

He was an avid member of many churches from Model Farm, Bankend, Foam Lake and St Basils in Regina once he moved there. He was also a member of the Seniors Club at St Basils and enjoyed helping out at their events.

Myron fought off colon cancer in 2005 and underwent heart surgery in 2009 and was later diagnosed with Lymphoma in June of 2019. He moved into Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in August of 2020, where he passed away peacefully.

Myron is survived by his three daughters Stacy Salapak and Mark Adie, Susie and Jason Plank, Sharon and Jerrod Larsen; his grandchildren Grace Adie, Christina Plank and Kolton Sabiston, Cameron, Zachary and Gregory Plank and Seth, Abby and Claire Larsen; his great grandson, Levi Sabiston; his sisters Emily Popik, Pauline Wolitski and Mary Woitas and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Alice Salapak, brothers John and Victor Salapak, sisters Olga Salapak and Sophie Rudniski and brothers-in-law Mike Popik, Emil Rudniski, Pat Wolitski and John Woitas.
