Orville Mervin Foster was born on January 15, 1938, on the Foster farm north of Kelvington, Saskatchewan. He was the third of five children born to Fred and Eleanor Foster.
Orville graduated from Kelvington High School in 1957 and moved to Vancouver, where he worked in a plywood mill until 1961. He married his high school sweetheart, Fran Beard, in New Westminister in 1959 and their first son, Clint, was born there.
They moved to Saskatoon in 1961, where Orville joined the Saskatoon Police Force. It was here that their second son, Stewart, was born. Orville retired from the Police Force in 1987, took one year off and helped his mom through her battle with cancer. He then worked as a security officer at the court house in Saskatoon from 1988 to 1997.
In 2000, Orville and Fran moved to Kelvington, where he thoroughly enjoyed small-town life. His family was very important to him and he spent as much time as possible with them. He was very proud of his sons and grandchildren and often told them so.
Orville was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Eleanor, and father-in-law Doug Beard.
He will be sadly missed by Fran, his loving wife of 56 years; sons, Clint (Glenda) and Stewart (Lisa); grandchildren, Shanna, Jesse, Kelsie and Cory; brothers, Eldred/Sam (Diane), Armand (Vivian) and Larry (Judy); sister Lillian (Byron); sisters-in-law, Sharon (David) and Carol (Eldon); brother-in-law Rod (Zhenya); mother-in-law Ella Beard; many nieces and nephews; as well as by many friends and his "coffee buddies."
Orville will be remembered for his community involvement, his amazing sense of humour and great stories.
We will all miss him.
