Margo Lutheran Church, Margo

Pearl (Paraska) was born on February 12, 1914, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the third child of Michael and Anna Tomyn.

The family moved to the Margo area, where she grew up on the banks of Stony Lake and attended Margo School. Pearl worked at various jobs in the Margo area and also in Flin Flon. She enjoyed curling, swimming, knitting, crocheting, sewing and dancing.

In 1936 she married George Staszko. They resided in Margo and raised a family of a daughter, Sandra, and a son, Garry.

Pearl was president of the Anglican Ladies' Aid and a member of the Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and Margo Silver Threads. She loved weiner roasts, gardening, reading magazines to catch up on the stars in Hollywood, travel time by train or bus, shopping (especially for shoes and hats), and the many cups of tea that were enjoyed with family and friends.

Pearl passed away at the Invermay Health Centre where she had been a resident for the past few years.

She was predeceased by her husband George; parents, Michael and Anna Tomyn; son Garry; son-in-law Otto Lee; sister Mary; brothers, William, Nicholas, John, George, Matthew, Peter and Earl; sisters-in-law, Lena Tomyn, Marie Tomyn, Doreen Tomyn, Marjorie Tomyn, Margaret Klebeck, Doris Staszko, Lena Mann and Frances Staszko, and brother-in-law Steve Staszko.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Lee; grandchildren, Tracy Lee (Doug Collins), Karla (Glen) Muir, Terry (Crystal), and Robert (Sandi); eight great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; brother Steve (Esther) Tomyn; sister Rose (Lawrence) McNabb; sisters-in-law, Lucille Tomyn, Stella Tomyn and Ethel Tomyn; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

We remember Pearl for her heartwarming laugh and smile
