On December 21, 2016, Richard (Dick) peacefully passed away with family by his side.
Dick was born on May 15, 1923, the eldest of four children, to Samuel and Ada Maude (Peggy) Bagnall. He was born at home, on a farm near Yorkton. When he was three years of age, the family moved to the Nut Mountain area, where they established the home farm. Dick’s schooling was taken at Nut Grove.
On October 20, 1949, he married Wilma Shobe. To their marriage two sons were born, Charles Richard in 1950 and Garth Wayne in 1953.
Dick, along with Wilma, farmed for 25 years on the family farm. As well, he drove the school bus for 12 years. In 1974, taking on a new adventure, they purchased the Sylvania Hotel, passing the family farm on to their son Charles. They owned and operated the hotel until 1990.
After retiring from the hotel, Dick and Wilma spent their winters in Alamo, Texas, and their summers in Sylvania, gardening or golfing at Maureen Lake.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Ada Maude (Peggy); brother Bob; and sisters, Joan and Eileen.
Left to mourn are Wilma, his wife of 67 years; son Charles; daughter-in-law Barbara; son Garth; daughter-in-law Charlott; grandchildren, Tonia (Glen Haggard), Tammy (Dean) Andreas, Roxanne, Karla, Jenna (Ryan) Townsend; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Cierra, Hudson, Reid and Porsche; as well as a sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
