Mozart Hall
Richard Leo Halldorson was born on November 15, 1930, to Kristinn and Vilborg Halldorson, on his grandparents' farm, located NE-18-32-15-W2. He was the eldest of two boys, brother to Halldor Halldorson. After finishing school in 1946, having first attended Argyle and then Little Quill School, Richard went to work at Senwicks' for a year. He then started farming the home quarter with a small tractor and a 4A½-ft. one-way. He also kept cattle and trapped weasels, muskrats and skunks to earn extra spending money. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Carole McKnight, and together they had three children: Carolyn, Kenny and Christopher. They lived in Elfros for three years while Richard drove the school bus to Wynyard and continued to farm. They then moved to their new farm site 1A½ miles northwest of Mozart, where Christopher continues to farm today. In 2009 they retired to Wynyard. Richard was a very strong community supporter and served on many boards: the Co-op, Wheat Pool, Fishing Lake, and Mozart Credit Union. He was predeceased by his parents, Kris in 1977 and Vilborg in 1990; and by son-in-law Randy in 1995. He is survived by Carole, his wife of 54 years; his children, Carolyn (Ben), Kenny (Genny) and Christopher (Sharon); grandchildren, Arron, Jeremy (Amber), Brandon, Karlee; step-grandchildren, Rachel and Austin; great-grandchildren, Gaige and Cylis; brother Halldor (Jean); and by many other relatives and friends.
