It is with great sadness that we share the news of Roy Hendren’s passing
on October 18, 2018 at the age of 92.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018
at the Kelvington Legion Community Centre at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy’s memory to the Kelvington Hospital.
Roy George Hendren was born to Pat and Esther Hendren in a log house on the family farm north of Kelvington on March 27, 1926. He passed away on October 18, 2018, at the age of 92.He married Gladys Emma Jane Prouse on July 14,1950, and they had four children. He worked hard at many different jobs from farming, fishing, and roughnecking, to hauling lumber, logs and gravel. He was always very creative and resourceful and could fix anything, weld anything, solve any mechanical problem. He had a reputation as an honest, generous, hard-working man with a witty sense of humour.Roy was predeceased by his parents, Pat and Esther; his sisters, Mary Cade and Verna Hendren; his brothers-in-law, Art Cade, Willie Halbert, Bob Bristow, and Dave Still; and his sister-in-law Donalda.Roy is lovingly remembered by his wife Gladys; his children, Keith, Julie (Fred) Liljelund, Patsy (Alvin) Drummond, and Polly (Bob) Schindel; eight grandchildren, Michael (Ali) Liljelund, Tyson (Marni) Drummond, Cody (Meriah) Drummond, Morgan (Lana-Rae) Drummond, Dustin (Jessica Welder) Drummond, Stephanie (Jesse) Bastain, Meissa (Darin) Schindel-Hill, Bobbie (Dustin) Crawford; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys (Dick) Perrott, Ruth Bristow, and Doris Still; brothers, Wallace (Shona), Jim (Bev), and Jack; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Although Roy often worked away from home, family was the most important thing in his life.
