Samuel was born in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, on February 21, 1952, to Phillip and Dora Mostowchuk. He began his education at Brookview School for half a year then due to illness continued in Sturgis.
After leaving school, Sam worked with his father in the bush and farmed then went to work in Saskatoon. Shortly after, he joined the CN Extra Gang.
On October 20, 1972, he married Dianne Negraeff of Canora, and decided to make farming his life’s work. To this union four children were born: Milton, Miles, Lavern and Thomas.
In 2008, he began his career as a mechanic at LD Allen Enterprises at Creelman, Saskatchewan. Two years later Dianne moved there to be with him. He continued to work until he became ill. On August 14, 2017, Sam entered the Estevan hospital and passed away on September 14, 2017.
He is survived by Dianne, his wife of 44 years; children, Milton, Miles (Crystal), Lavern (James) and Thomas; eight grandchildren; four sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces.
