After spending nearly three years in different long-term care homes, Stanley passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017, in Red Deer Nursing Home in Porcupine Plain.
Stanley was born on July 4, 1930, at Kuroki, Saskatchewan. He was the second youngest of 14 children born to Olia and Nora (née Hagen) Steffensen.
Stanley took most of his school at Felton Grove School plus one year at Archerwill.
In 1964, Stanley married the love of his life, Beatrice Cooper; and together they had one son, Bart, in 1966.
Stanley worked at the UGG elevator for two years, then for 11 years he and Beatrice farmed and ran a dairy that supplied the village of Archerwill with milk. After he quit the dairy, Stanley did carpenter work and farmed. Later, he specialized in drywall, taping and plastering. He worked on many homes and businesses in the community.
He always had a great sense of humour and always had time to visit while he worked. Music was very much a part of Stanley and Beatrice’s life and they loved to go dancing as long as they were able. Stanley also enjoyed curling and bingo.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents; Beatrice, his wife of 45 years; four brothers; eight sisters; and numerous other relatives.
He is survived by his son Bart, sister Clarice (Joe), brother-in-law Harry (Phyllis), and many nieces and nephews.
