Terry was born on April 23, 1947, in Strathroy, Middlesex County, Ontario, the second son of Douglas and Merle Tompkins. Terry has two brothers: Doug, his older; Bob, the youngest.
As I remember Terry’s stories, the boys were quite a handful. When these three boys were together, there was always lots of laughter and fun pranks happening. All boys had a love of fish and chips, Pepsi and pizzas. But we can only imagine the joking and laughter that went along with.
Terry found his love of the Lord in his early teens when he went with his dad to preach and sing in the soup kitchens.
In 1967, Terry moved to Saskatoon to attend Bible College. His career in the ministry began – starting in Beaubier, Naicam, Moose Jaw and in 1980, Terry moved to Wadena to start his career in the funeral industry.
In 1992, Tompkins Funeral Home opened and Terry’s dream of running a funeral home was complete.
Terry was working, doing what he loved until his passing.
Terry had a vibrant personality and would light up a room whenever he entered. He was full of joy and always put everyone before himself. Terry was eager to help out no matter what the situation was.
He couldn’t resist an opportunity to laugh or tell a joke with friends.
Terry loved being with people. The only thing more important to Terry was his relationship with the Lord.
He was always ready with a listening ear, a lending hand and a big smile. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, with his quick wit and his genuine kindness, was blessed.
Terry will be missed by all those who shared his life. Also his two beautiful daughters, Michelle (Donald) and Lisa; grandchildren Kaitlyne (Adam) and son Jax; Nathan – Brett. He will also be missed by his wife Wanda.

Heaven has gained another voice in its angelic choir.
