Thelma Holmstrom

Thelma Maxine Holmstrom passed away on June 7th, 2022, at Pleasant View Care Home, in Wadena, SK at the age of 95 yrs.

Thelma was born to Rufus and Ada Pettigrew on June 24, 1926, in Dodsland, SK.  She attended school in Meadow Lake, where she lived on the family homestead.  Thelma and her family ended up moving to the Langley, BC area where she completed high school.

She met Evert while out in BC.   The two married in Vancouver, BC on July 1, 1947.  The two moved out to Saskatchewan around 1949 to start farming close to Evert’s grandfather’s homestead.  Thelma and Evert had two boys, Harvey and Lyle.  Once the boys became school age, the family moved to Wadena where Thelma worked as a teller at the CIBC, a bookkeeper for Mac Scramsted, and then a bookkeeper for Marilyn McGunnigal at her dress shop.

Thelma was an involved community member.  She was a member of the Legion, as well as was part of the Curling Club and Rink Association.  Thelma enjoyed many activities and hobbies, including curling, swimming, playing cards, dancing, and going out fishing.  She also enjoyed travelling and visiting with her friends.

Thelma will be dearly missed by her sons Harvey Holmstrom (Sheryl) of Caroline, AB, and Lyle Holmstrom (Sherly) of Edmonton, AB, and her grandchildren Brandy Holmstrom, Brent Holmstrom, Twyla Hale, and Jamie Hale.  Also left to remember her is her nephew Randy Pettigrew, and her nieces Verba Desjardine, Cheryl Reeve, Nancy Zamor, Lind Jaeras, Sandy Chalmers, and Gail Beaucage.

Thelma is pre-deceased by her husband Evert, her parents Rufus and Ada Pettigrew, her brothers Glen Pettigrew and Cal Pettigrew, and her sisters Audrey Jeanotte and Betty Hawe.
