Vicky Chasky

June 10, 1935 — February 19, 2022

Vicky Chasky was born on June 10, 1935 to Anne and John Hayko.  She grew up on the family farm northeast of Wynyard and received her education at Springburn School.

Vicky met Franklin Chasky.  The two fell in love, and were married on August 11, 1954.  Early in their marriage they purchased a small two-bedroom home which was added onto and renovated.  They were blessed with 5 daughters.  The family lived on Maple Grove Farm.  Vicky was very involved with their girls’ extra-curricular activities as they grew up.  She even received her Judging Certificate in Figure Skating.

She started working part-time at the Mozart Co-op.  She moved into a full-time position and eventually furthered her career by becoming the Manager of the Mozart Co-op.  She was very involved in the family farm at harvest time too.  Not only did she make sure everyone was fed, but she helped out with the trucking, driving the swather and combine.  In 1976, the couple moved into their dream home in Wynyard.

Vicky’s hobbies included sewing, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and numerous other crafts.  Her true passion and enjoyment came from gardening, berry-picking, kicking up her heels on the dance floor, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.

After Franklin passed away, she kept herself busy as a volunteer sitting with patients at the Wynyard Hospital and helping with the Sunday Breakfasts at Golden Acres.  Vicky ended up becoming a resident at Westview, where she received both recognition and an award for the flowerbeds she tended at the Westview location.

Vicky is pre-deceased by her husband Franklin, daughter Peggy, parents Anne and John Hayko, sisters Mary, Carol, brothers Steve, Ray, Merv, son-in-law Ron Zander, great-granddaughter Brittany Gargol, brothers-in-law Joseph Prisciak, Barry McKinnon, Matt Popadynetz, and Alfred Field, parents-in-law Maggie and Frank Chasky.

Vicky will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters Bev (Pim), Judy, Cindy (Barry), and Sandra, her sisters Rosemarie, Hope, Jean and Joni, sisters-in-law Carol and Doreen, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
