Victoria Kinga Bzdel, of Wynyard, SK, passed away on July 6, 2021 in Wynyard, SK at the age of 92. Victoria was born on December 6, 1928, to Walter and Agnes Kosik in Wishart, SK.
Victoria married Nick Bzdel on June 26, 1948, in Wishart. Victoria was a homemaker her entire life. On the family farm she worked hard - they were self sufficient and raised everything to look after their family. She milked cows and shipped cream every week to buy the groceries. She also raised chickens for butchering for the freezer and laying hens for eggs for the household and to sell at the local Mozart Co-op.
In those days there was no running water, so that meant lots of extra hard work when it came to washing clothes, bathing, etc. They had a cistern for soft water, otherwise the water was carried in pails from the well.
Victoria and Nick moved off the farm into Wynyard in April 1984. Here, Victoria enjoyed looking after her garden, and it truly showed with how lush and green it always was and bountiful for themselves, plus sharing with their kids and neighbours. Her family really thinks she talked to her plants, and they listened, because she was always the first in her neighbourhood to have fresh vegetables.
She also took great pride in her flower garden. Lilies were one of her favorite flowers and she had a big lily patch with every color and variety you could imagine. Eugene and Angie remember going to Dryden to visit her brother, Alphonse, and they drove through Neepawa, Manitoba, known as the Lily Capital and she noticed a sign that said Lily Farm, so you know where they had to stop on their way home.
Victoria always enjoyed cooking and baking. She had several cookbooks and loved going through them to find new recipes. No one ever left her home hungry. She enjoyed people stopping in for coffee, which was always served with her homemade goodies.
During the winter months she sewed quilts for all the children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many doilies and Afghans for all of the family. Once she had all the family looked after with her sewing and crocheting, she took on a new hobby of doing needlepoint. She made all the family several beautiful pictures that they have hanging in their homes to remember their dear Mom/Baba.
Family time was important to her, and she always liked when everyone could come home for Easter and Christmas.
In 2014 she realized that the big home and yard were too much for her to take care of, so that is when she then moved to Westview and on January, 2017, she moved to Wynyard Golden Acres where she had many wonderful staff to look after her.
Victoria is survived by her children Michael (Margaret) Bzdel and his daughter Sherry Bzdel, Eugene Bzdel and his children Trevor (Kelli) Bzdel and Sarah (Dustin) Bzdel, and Angie (Arnie) Hall and their children Arley (Tracy) Hall, Melinda Hall and Franklin (Amy) Hall; her daughter-in-law Shannon Bzdel and her children Joey Bzdel and Sheryl (Mike) Koback and her great grandchildren Carter, Alex, Riley, Aria, Jenna, Dylan, Austin, Destiny, Hunter, Harlee, Miley, Kinley and Kenley. She was predeceased by her husband Nick, daughter Alexandra, son Ronald, parents Walter and Agnes, sisters Steffie Yasinowski and Julia Tomczyk and brothers Alphonse, Albin and Edward.
