It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Viola Lynell Apooch, affectionately known as Cecil, who departed this life peacefully. Born and raised in the beautiful Yellow Quill First Nation, Viola was a cherished spirit who brought light and joy to those around her. She was embraced and lovingly raised by, Mary Jane Stoney and her late husband, Harry Stoney, whom she always referred to as Mom and Dad.
Viola was a woman of choice; in 2011, she made the decision to move to East Hastings, Vancouver, BC, where she sought a life that reflected her independence and desires. She chose not to have children, focusing instead on her personal path and the relationships that enriched her life.
Viola is predeceased by her beloved father, Harry Stoney, along with her dear sisters, Verna and Varina. She leaves behind her devoted mother, Mary Jane Stoney, and her loving sisters, Violet Kayseas, Vivian Stoney, and Valene (Jonah). She will be missed dearly by her numerous nephews and nieces, who held a special place in her heart.
Viola’s spirit touched many lives, and her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm smile and her ability to find joy in the simple moments of life.
