Vi Longman was born in the Weyburn area on October 23, 1922. She lived on the farm there until she moved with her family to the Nut Mountain area in the Dirty Thirties. She always had a great love for all animals but especially horses and continued to ride late in life.Vi worked at Wadena Hospital before she married Les Beard in 1947. They raised two daughters on the farm. Vi always had her pets – cats, dogs and horses.. She rode in many cattle drives and also in the Kelvington Fair parade. Her miniature pony pulling her in the cart was a favourite. She also loved to bake and always had fresh bread or delicious pies, along with other baking to offer visitors.In 2004, Vi and Les moved into Kelvington. They both missed the farm but were able to visit and keep some of their animals there thanks to the kindness of Vern and Mabel. In 2011, failing health made it necessary to move her to the Kelvindell Lodge.The wonderful staff at the Lodge took great care of her until her passing on August 12, 2018. Our family so appreciates their compassion and kindness. We thank you.Vi was predeceased by her husband Les; her parents; her brothers, Larry, Max (Eva) and Stan (Dorlene); sister Mabel (Elmer); also Doug (Ella) Beard and Bev (Joyce) Beard; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.She leaves two daughters, three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren: Linda and Len Polachek, Elaine and Garry Donald and their families: Pam and Rick Weisgerber; Karlee and Jay Willard, Lydia and Isaac; and Mandi and Chris Mercereau.
Your life was a blessing;
Your memory, a treasure.
You are loved beyond words
And missed beyond measure.
