It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wally on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soulmate, Darlene Wray (Franke); his daughter, Lori Wray; his father, Willard Wray; his mother, Anke Wray; three sisters, and his grandparents.
Wally is lovingly remembered by his sister, Carol McMeekin; his son, Daryn Wray; his daughter, Josie Conklin; and his grandchildren: Tamara Wray, Brittany Racic (McCallie), Brandon Wray (Jessica), and Tianna Baylak. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Eden, Charles, Elise, Sebastian, Emilia, and Scarlett
Wally was born in Airdrie, Alberta, where he met the love of his life, Darlene. Together, they shared a life filled with adventure, dancing, and travels with family and friends. Wally had a passion for sports and games, excelling as a curler, bowler, and golfer. He was also an inventive spirit, often creating new games to enjoy with loved ones. Known for his quick wit and strong will, Wally always wore a smile that brightened the lives of those around him. One of Wally’s true passions was car racing at Saskatoons raceway, he would use his welding skills to help build the stock cars.
He was a dedicated and hardworking man, beginning his career as a surveyor before transitioning to welding. Alongside his wife, Wally also found success in selling copper crafts, where their efforts flourished. Wally’s love for life, family, and fun will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
